Elaine Jones

biography

Elaine was born in 1975 and grew up in the Midlands. She studied art and design at Newcastle Under Lyme 1994 - 1995 (where she was awarded the Fine Art prize for painting) and at Loughborough University - Granada University/Spain 1995-1998. She now lives and paints in Bristol. Her work is collected throughout Europe and America.

Inspired by nature and her travels to remote landscapes, Elaine’s paintings explore wild, extreme environments, from Arctic glaciers to the rainforests of Costa Rica. Organic forms provide a starting point, while layers of paint are poured, scratched, brushed, pushed and rubbed away to create a balance of chaos and order, serenity and movement.

Elaine’s work has been exhibited and sold successfully at art fairs and exhibitions across the UK, Europe and the US for over two decades. Recent solo exhibitions include shows with Fairfax Gallery (2025, 2023, 2021), First Contemporary (2023,) and Clifton Contemporary (2020 and 2025). She also works with Artelier and International Corporate Art in Oslo, creating large-scale commissions for yachts and sailing boats.
